WHAT IS MAINELY HOME WATCH?

We are a professional insured, bonded, and accredited Home Watch business serving Cumberland and York Counties. We check your property and identify any obvious issues or potential problems that can occur while your property is unoccupied.

People may confuse our services with property management or house sitters but we are not providing those types of services.

The National Home Watch Association defines Home Watch as “The visual inspection of an unoccupied home or property, looking for obvious issues.”

Who is Mainely Home Watch?

Mainely Home Watch is a locally owned small business operating in Cumberland & York counties, Maine. Owned by Anthony Verville and fiancée, Kimberly Veilleux.

ARE YOU A HOUSE SITTER SERVICE?

We are not house sitters. Our core service includes periodic visits to your home where we follow a specific and mutually agreed upon checklist. We are in your home for about an hour per visit and take great pride in making sure your home is as you left it for your return. House sitters typically stay at your home with 24/7 access to everything in your home along with staying onsite for the duration of your travels.

What is your service area?

We service Cumberland and York counties in Maine. Communities including South Portland, Portland, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Freeport, Cumberland, Scarborough, Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, and Arundel.

How often do I need a home watch check?

We recommend weekly or bi-weekly checks. When regular visits are performed, there are considerably less issues turning into a major incident.

Are you a property inspector?

No. While we check your property, we are NOT a property inspector. Property inspectors provide thorough detailed inspections of the property’s structure, plumbing, electrical, heating, and air condition systems. Mainely Home Watch provides a visual inspection of your home or property looking for any obvious issues.

Who will be performing the home checks?

Our home checks are performed by the owners. In the event for any reason it may be anyone other than Anthony or Kimberly, we will be certain to get approval from our clients, if we hire someone in our absence.

Are you insured?

Absolutely. We want to ensure our clients have peace of mind leaving their property in our hands. We are fully insured and bonded. We provide proof of coverage to all of our clients. We are also accredited through the National Home Watch Association where we must adhere to a Code of Ethics. Additionally, we have been through criminal background checks as a requirement for accreditation.

If there is an issue with my home, how will I be notified?

Mainely Home Watch will send you a detailed report after each home watch visit. The report will consist of photos and details documenting any issues discovered. We will also give you a call / text / email depending on your preference of any immediate issues.

Why is it important for Maine homeowners to hire a Home Watch company?

To mitigate any possible risks or losses while you are away. Although your neighbor can be convenient, when something happens it can quickly become burdensome or inconvenient. A friend or neighbor will likely not provide you a thorough report after each visit.

Do you visit my home after storms?

Yes! We try to schedule our home watch checks after storms although it doesn’t always align where our weekly or bi-weekly scheduled checks will fall after a storm. In that event, we absolutely can check your home for an additional fee to ensure your home is safe.

Can you help with maintenance & repairs?

We love playing matchmaker for our clients with our trusted network of vendors and contractors. We can connect you with names and contacts, we can even coordinate on your behalf, give access and/or provide supervision while they are in your home. What does it mean to be accredited by the NHWA?

Why Home Watch Is a Better Option Than House Sitters and Property Management

Choosing Mainely Home Watch Services over property management or house sitters can provide several key benefits for homeowners. Home watch services focus on checking for problems or possible problems in a home, to help avoid losses or mitigate losses to a minimum while the owners are away. Unlike property management, which often centers on tenant relations and rent collection, home watch services prioritize the property’s condtion, addressing issues like water leaks, pest infestations, HVAC problems, and other concerns through regular inspections.

Home watch professionals conduct thorough, scheduled visits and provide detailed reports, ensuring small issues are identified and resolved before they escalate into costly repairs. This proactive approach helps preserve the property’s value and ensures it is ready for the homeowner’s return. Additionally, home watch services offer tailored care based on the specific needs of the homeowner and their property, providing a level of customization often missing in broader property management services.

Compared to house sitters, home watch services offer a more professional and reliable option. While house sitters may provide a presence in the home, they may lack the expertise to identify and address maintenance issues promptly. Home watch professionals are trained to spot potential problems and have the resources to resolve them efficiently. Ultimately, home watch services offer a dedicated, specialized approach to property care, providing homeowners with peace of mind and ensuring their home remains secure and well-maintained year-round.
